Best Pre Workout With Low Caffeine: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre Workout
Best Overall Pre Workout: C4 Original

The first time I used C4 I remember feeling like superman in the gym! A friend of mine suggested trying C4 and I fell in love with it. So opening the container I saw the miracle powder called C4 Original Pre Workout.
I had chosen the Fruit Punch, I took one scoop and mixed it with 250ml of water, the taste was a bit too intense, added a bit more water and it was perfect. Super delicious like drinking fruit juice with a punch (pun intended).
After about 15-20 minutes the magic started to happen. I started feeling the tingling sensation all over my face and knew that I was ready to hit the gym. I felt more focused, energized, and hungry to kill that gym session which I did.
This was partly due to the caffeine content which I didn’t know back then. What I did know was that I really liked it and that I found my new gym partner, I was hooked.
Now when it comes to flavors, these are my preferences from most to least. I have to say I tend to always prefer tropical and berries more than citric fruits. My go to is the fruit punch flavor, I like that one by far the most.
So here are my most to least favorite flavors: Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Strawberry Watermelon Ice, Cherry Limeade, Mango Foxtrot, Frozen Bombsicle, Strawberry Watermelon Ice, Icy Blue Razz Pink Lemonade, Strawberry Margarita,Frozen Bombsicle, Grape, Orange Burst.
I highly recommend you give C4 Orginal Pre Workout a try!
It’s one of the best pre workout drinks for a great price and the perfect one to start with!
This pre workout has been on the market for a while and stood the test of time. It was formulated to help you get that pump, endurance, the boost in energy and strength.
The C4 also contains creatine which is a naturally occurring amino acid that helps the body produce energy and reduce fatigue after the workout session. Comes in a variety of great-tasting flavors and won’t break the bank!
If you like the C4 original you could also consider trying out the C4 Ripped, Extreme, Ultimate, and Dynasty later on. These versions are all modified versions of the original and include more or exclude some ingredients. C4 also offers a budget version called C4 Sport, here the whole list of the best options available at walmart.
If using a pre workout for the first time I suggest starting with the original and going from there.

“High octane nectar. You’ll feel explosive energy you have never felt before. Normally after working out at the gym I’m tired and want to relax and consume some protein, but after working out today I was still insanely energetic that I went on a short run until my heart said enough is enough and to relax, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to continue moving so I decided to take my dog on a long walk. If you feel lethargic then take this stuff. You’ll get a better workout.”

“I got this on the advice of a work-mate who loves it for pre workout. I got fruit punch. It DOES amp me up, and the texture is fine. However, I wouldn’t get it again:
1) it is WAY too sweet for my palate, no matter how I water it down
2) I consistently get that tingly feeling from the niacin (I think): although some people might like this physical feedback that it’s working, I find it super annoying personally.”
Best Performance Enhancing & Fatigue Reducing Pre Workout: GHOST Legend

Ghost Legend Pre Workout supplement has been around for a while now. This is a completely redesigned formula, the Legend V2, which promises to deliver more of all the good stuff such as more energy, focus, and better pumps! This is a vegan pre workout, here’s how it ranked against other vegan pre workout in this article.
This pre workout is more expensive but a great value. I added two scoops the first time and after 15 minutes my face and neck were tingling and on fire. This lasted for a few minutes and went away.
The energy I had was crazy and stayed like that during the whole workout. I loved the focus and pump it gave me and flavor was on point too! I got the Sonic Cherry Limeade.
I thought that the crash would surely come afterward, but no, it didn’t happen which is a major plus.
This will definitely lite a fire under you for working out and killing it at the gym. This product will help provide the edge you need to do the task at hand.

“Best preworkout I’ve had in a long time. Definitely wires you and works 😆 some itching but overall I felt it gives you a tunnel vision focus to have a great workout. That’s how it was for me 10/10”

“I have been an avid user of pre workout for years. I’ve tried multiple brands and found some I like and some I don’t. This one is NOT worth it. There is no pump. No energy. It doesn’t taste like anything and to top it all off, it contains what should be an extremely noticeable amount of caffeine and other supplements but it’s just blah.”
Best Pre Workout with High Creatine: Gorilla Mode

The Gorilla Mode pre workout was made to give you a crazy boost in energy, focus, and hydration with a significant boost in muscle strength and endurance.
They tried to pack as many ingredients they could in this product so you can kill it at the gym and get results.
This pre workout is delicious! It makes such a good drink with no awful taste that I have to stop myself from drinking more… A good problem I guess.
Has a good amount of caffeine, and no jitters. Definitely gives me the sustainable energy I need for a training session.
This pre workout is definitely recommended, great flavor, tried the Firefly Lemonade, mixed 1.5 scoops with 20oz of water. Some people complained about its poor mixability but not an issue I had.
With all this said, this product comes with high amounts of caffeine which might make you jittery and unable to sleep. Was not my experience but it is something to be mindful of.
It also has a high amount of creatine which if you are already using separately might be a waste of money considering you can buy good quality creatine for a decent price and dose separately.

“I never used a pre workout before this product, so I really have no frame of reference, but I love this product! The pump is amazing. I actually sweat more, which is weird because I rarely sweat that much, my workout is usually less than an hour in length. But I got a great sweat in and I felt stronger and more explosive, which led to more weight and more reps. I train to failure, so I use a combination of rest/pause and drop sets for my last set so I felt I like could go forever, it was awesome!!! This product tastes great to me, but I don’t eat much sugar, so anything sweet will taste like candy to me. Love the product and I will continue to use it.”

“I was really excited for the mojito flavor but unfortunately it just tastes like lime tums crushed up. Although I feel like even lime tums would’ve dissolved more as this powder always ends up at the bottom even though I’m only using one, level scoop. Ultimately I’ll probably buy more once this runs out but I wish it dissolved better and tasted better. I can’t speak for everyone but a little bit of sugar could go a long way, I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world to have a little bit over all these artificial sweeteners.”
Best Pre Workout With High Caffeine: Ryse Pre Workout

As I unscrew the lid of the Ryse Cherry Ring Pop Pre Workout, I got very excited as I saw the powder and could feel my mouth start to water. Crazy of course but I couldn’t wait to try the pre workout. I mixed a scoop with some water and took a big gulp, the taste is decent. Read my full review here.
I also checked out the reviews of this and other flavors, the reviews are mixed so this is one that you’ll need to try out for yourself and decide wheter or not you like it.
I did feel it start working after 15minutes, which is the norm for me. I was pumped, I was ready to hit the gym, and as I started my workout, I could feel that the pre workout kicked in.
That tingling sensation people talk about swept over my body like a wave of electricity. I was energized, pumped and was ready to conquer any dumbbell challenge that came my way.
I haven’t experienced the amount of energy and focus that I got from Ryse Pre Workout before with another regular serving of a pre workout.
Understandable, it has 390mg of caffeine. So this might not be for eyou if you’re sensitive to caffeine. This will defenitely make you feel wired.
During my session I was able to push myself much harder, lift heavier weights than I usually did. Great news! It also gave me a boost in endurance which helped keeping me going longer. It was a great gym session.
Why is it not on the top of my list then?
That’s due to the high amounts of caffeine which for some can be too much and some day I don’t want to have so much caffeine.
This pre workout will surely give you results and make you feel like an unstoppable beast in the gym

“Amazing product. Well packaged. Great taste and mixes well. Does what I claims. The extended release caffeine keeps you from crashing. Hands down best pre workout I’ve ever used. It definitely helps me power through my morning workouts with only getting minimal sleep. I feel like I can conquer the world on this stuff. Ryse has a consumer for life!!!!!”

“Flavor was very crisp. Best taste so far out of all the preworkouts that I’ve tried so far. however I could barely feel the effects. I wouldn’t take another scoop bc it already has too much caffeine in it.”
Best Pre Workout With Low Caffeine: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre Workout

The first time I mixed a scoop of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre Workout into my shaker filled with a bit of water and gave it a good shake.
I took a sip and let me tell you, the refreshing watermelon flavor hit my taste buds and I enjoyed it. Nice flavor. I chugged all of it down and after 20 minutes I could feel it starting to kick in.
I noticed that I got a surge of energy and focus, and I was ready for getting in that gym and get a crazy workout. The tingling on my face and ears was subtle but noticeable, and was feeling great and in the zone.
My workouts have been great while using Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard pre workout. I feel like I was able to push through my difficult reps and sets which is not always easy to do, but I got it done.
I would also notice that I could keep going for longer which was great.
Overall, I am very impressed with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard pre workout. The great flavor is a great plus while it did what was intended to do. Give me a boost in energy and focus.

“Great pre workout without the itch! I immediately noticed a different from using this preworkout. My muscles aren’t as sore the next day so I can continue to complete a full workout everyday. I never took preworkout because of the itch in my fingers. This still has the beta-alanine, however the amount doesn’t give me the itch like other preworkouts. Will repurchase.”

“Didn’t give me a pre workout boost like I am used to. Was about the equivalent to coffee. I have adhd, so most stimulants don’t have the same effect on me as they do on most non-adhd people. Could be fine for more stimulant-sensitive people.”
Common ingredients
Caffeine
Caffeine is a common substance in many pre workouts but you can also find it in coffee, tea, and some energy drinks. It helps you to stay awake and feel more energetic.
Each serving of a pre workout supplement usually has a range of 150mg to 300mg of caffeine. For comparison, an average cup of coffee has 95mg of caffeine.
If you want a stim free pre workout supplement, try looking for one without ingredients like caffeine.
Creatine
Creatine is primarily found naturally in your muscle cells. During intense cardio workouts and while lifting heavy weights it helps your muscles produce energy.
It has been shown to increase strength, muscle mass, and exercise performance.
Creatine is one of the supplements in the fitness world that has been tested the most and is incredibly safe.
L-Citrulline
Studies have shown that using citrulline may increase oxygen content in the muscles and improve exercise performance so you can get a intense exercise.
So for anyone hitting the gym this supplement will help improve your endurance and weight training.
Beta-Alanine
This supplement is a friend! Using beta-alanine has been shown to help in increasing your time to exhaustion.
Meaning, you get to hit the gym and work out those muscles for a longer period of time. And as we know, more time under tension can lead to more massive gains!
Arginine
Arginine will increase and improve circulation and oxygen uptake. This will help improve your strength and endurance if you take it before working out.
Keep this in mind when buying
When looking for pre workout supplement, be sure to pay attention to the ingredients. Choose one that has ingredients that you know are beneficial for you and your workout goals.
Also, make sure to choose one with a lower caffeine content if you are sensitive to stimulants.
If not using creatine separately try finding one with a good amount of creatine as this has been shown to help increase strength and muscle mass.
